For the photographer, the City of London is a candy store of modern architecture. As architectural firms strive to outdo each other with ever taller more impressive structures to wow their city clients, so the buildings become more attractive subjects for the photographer.

20 Fenchurch Street, known colloquially as the Walkie Talkie building, has had a chequered history. Initially it’s parabolic curved design created an architectural induced sunspot in the adjacent street, causing damage to cars and acting as a potential health hazard. That has all now thankfully been rectified. 20 Fenchurch Street now stands out as a unique modern architectural project in the heart of the city.

This particular shot was taken to accentuate the unusual lines of the building and to project a dramatic perspective against the sky. Several layers were used with each of the buildings and sky saved as separate selections. Selective gradient masks were then used to accentuate the curves within the building.
